Dialing For Dollars 1969 WGHP 8
Twelve year old Greg McCullough was visiting his Grand-parents during summer vacation. It was Tuesday morning July 1, 1969. Greg was watching "Dialing For Dollars" on WGHP when the phone rang. Greg's Grandmother was busy in the kitchen so she asked Greg to get the phone for her. It was Dick Bennick on the line calling from "Dialing For Dollars". Greg McCullough was able to give Mr. Bennick the correct count on the wheel and the correct amount of the prize, which was $188. In this photo you can see Greg McCullough holding his check from WGHP while watching the show again hoping for another call. That is Jerry Merritt you see on the screen as Dick Bennick left "Dialing For Dollars" the same week Greg McCullough got the call. Mr. Bennick had taken a new job at WAIR radio as their morning man and administrative assistant of the station. Dick Bennick continued doing "Shock Theatre" on WGHP as host Dr. Paul Bearer until leaving for Florida in early November of 1971.
