Cordelia Kelly

Before there was a Food Network and before we ever heard of Paula Deen and Rachael Ray, there was Cordelia Kelly. During the fifties and sixties, this was one of my Mother's favorite shows when she had a chance to watch TV. The show was very popular. The ad is from November 1959.

Gosh - I remember Cordelia. I was no more than 7 or 8 when I watched her shows. I even remember the opening song. I began cooking seriously during my senior year at Carolina and have kept it up while living in Washington, DC and now Miami. While I became a Julia fanatic, I still remember Cordelia. Thanks for posting the ad, it does bring back fine memories.

speaking of Cordelia, does anyone remember the name of the hostess of the TV show that immediately followed "What's Cooking" on weekday mornings? The show itself was called "Second Breakfast" and was a ladies talk show. I would love to see reruns of those shows. What in the world were those ladies discussing on WFMY TV on weekday mornings in the late 1950s?

Carol Stoker was the host of "Second Breakfast".Her show aired for 15 minutes on weekday mornings after the " Good Morning Show".

My mother worked at the TV station back then so when she gave birth to me in 1957 Cordeila Kelly announced it on WFMY Channel 2. I still have a copy of one of Cordeilia Kelly's cook books from that year.
